Vaigali was probably making a mistake roaming through the Ironworks at night. It was gang territory, pure and simple, and while Vaigali tended not to get too involved with most of the politics that went on in such things, at the same time, it was a risk, venturing out here like this. Old targets and jealous flames both would venture in and out of the area, risks to him, and while he trusted in his own abilities, at the end of the day, it was significantly harder for him to try to get away from a bullet compared to a person. Bullets didn't tend to fall for his silver tongue, for example.

But he was feeling rather lonely back in his rooms, the discount apartment he holed up in for the moment, and he wasn't particularly looking forward to the prospect of trying to shower when the water was tinged brown with rust. Disgusting. He'd rather take his chances and try to pick someone up. If nothing else, he might find someone halfway decent in regards to gathering intelligence for a future job. And he wasn't by any means ignoring his current task, the one where he was tasked with getting into law enforcement to keep an eye on things, but well. He didn't want to use Artemis like that, even if he knew that she could do it, so a hacker would be far easier to find.

Except that when he rounded the corner, he came across the luck of a lifetime. A police officer. And a handsome one at that, in the district, and the Teumessian fox quickly pounced at the opportunity. He let his eyes trail up and down the figure as he drew forth a charming smile, one of his most practiced, even if it was forced, honed to the point of feeling almost natural as he sauntered over. "Mmm, hello there," he purred out, voice sliding easily through the words as he slipped into his usual seductive persona, the one he adopted when he was on the hunt for a bed to warm. "What's a lovely little thing like you doing out here at this time of night, hmm?"

He had been back up and nothing more. A few other police officers had been posted around the area in disguise, waiting for the chance to jump this drug dealer quietly. Parker didn’t know the details, but someone wanted this kid for information and nothing more. This was a scare tactic. He’d been told to follow as a second line of defense, but they hadn’t needed him anymore. Or at all really. Parker was relieved of his duties and told to head back. He obeyed, adjusting his cap and about to get back in his car.

Mew.

The sound his ears before he cold step into his vehicle. Parker’s head snapped to the source, eyeing briefly for a moment the shadows and the yellow eyes that stared back at him. He froze, listening carefully but nothing else occurred. Just a cat, messing with him. He was surprised really, but he imagined news of a cop that fed strays traveled fast enough. “Hey cutie, you lost?” he said voice low as he pulled out his flashlight. He shined the beam on the sidewalk and then carefully on the animal. It’s eyes only narrowed at the sudden brightness, but it didn’t flee just yet. Parker frowned as he noted there was no collar on the cat. He supposed a stop by the shelter would be fine. Tomorrow anyway. There was no way they were open at this hour. Night shift wasn’t exactly the most convenient of scheduling.

He nodded to himself. Before work he’d make a stop. He could detour to a place before work. Right. “C’mere cat. I’ll grab you a can of tuna on the way home.” He offered outstretching a hand and crouching down by his car. He clicked his tongue and snapped his fingers a few times, coaxing the stray grey tabby out of the darkness. Slow going, but good progress without an actual treat. He yelped as he was addressed, shooting up to his feet. His sudden upward lurch spooked the cat away. It took off running. Parker cast it a sad glance before looking back at the ginger. They seemed friendly. But they had also spooked him. “Hhh…Good evening.” He said forcing out the words carefully before he tipped his hat to the stranger. He felt a flash of heat rise through his chest at the word ‘lovely’ but pressed on, carefully putting away his flashlight on his belt. “I could ask you the same thing, actually.” He stated evenly after swallowing his nerves. Still, Parker offered a polite smile at the citizen of his city. “Lovely and all that included. I-Is there anything I can help you with, Sir?”

Vaigali shot a glance back towards the cat that darted off as he came closer - if he had to be honest, he personally wondered if that was one of the familiars of a nearby witch, the things did tend to stick around, but either way, it wasn't his place one way or another - and hummed as he strode closer. "I asked first," he pointed out, a hint of playful teasing entering his voice, as though he was letting an old friend in on a joke they'd worn smooth years ago rather than that the two of them were strangers who had only just met. "But I was in the area looking for an ex-friend. He took some of my things, but I remember where his spare key was, so I was going to poke around to make sure he wasn't home before I nicked them back." He offered a sly wink. "I hope you don't think poorly of me for that. But he has a gun, and since it's a few things I'm personally attached to, this really is the best way. He won't even miss them, honestly."

The Teumessian fox made a show of perking up then, running his eyes up and down the officer. "Unless you'd rather help me get them back? I don't think he'd be stupid enough to try anything if I brought you along. He has a record, you see. Flashed a couple people when he was drunk a few years back, and he doesn't really want to go through that again..." Of course, it was all a lie, but then, the officer didn't have to know that, if it got him into his car and apartment. Just about anything would do, really. He wasn't particularly picky about how this ended, as long as he walked away slightly closer to his goal than he had been before.

“Ah! Yeah I suppose so.” The demon relented with a small laugh. His polite smile seemed to deflate a little at the story. An ex friend huh? What a shame. He didn’t want to even think about how he’d feel if he lost one of his own friends. Not that he had many in Mythril, but it was more than when he was alive. He supposed anyway. He couldn’t remember friends from when he was alive. Just…a vague recollection of is closest family and the truck that had splatted him. “Sounds lonely. I’m sorry for your loss.” He said wit ha nod.

At the mention of a gun, he frowned worriedly as his mind began checking through backlog after backlog of protocol. He had a key, so it wasn’t like he was breaking in right? He could just stand in the hallway. Presence was enough. “N-No. Of course not. You have legal entry, so I don’t…see an issue.” The young man relented. He looked at the redhead and then made a few casual glances at their surroundings once more. He was little more resilient than some of his colleagues, but he didn’t want to get ganged up. Though, the man seemed alright. Not outwardly hostile. He didn’t see any bulges on his person that seemed suspicious. “Well, I can escort you if you’d like until you retrieve your belongings and escort you back home if you’d like?” Parker offered, still worried about a civilian getting shot. He seemed nice enough. Whatever fall out he’d had with his friend was inconsequential. He should be allowed to get his things back.

“What’s your name, sir. I’m Officer Kingsley.” he introduced, holding out his hand to shake.
